Luce is an Actor & Theatre Maker based in Naarm (Melbourne) and the Mornington Peninsula, performing and working on Wurundjeri land. They love to create and express in safe & brave spaces, exploring the whimsical, earry, & wondrous aspects of theatrical & film performance. They have studied at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS) completing their VCE and graduated their BFA in Theatre Making at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2021. Luce’s credits at VCASS include ‘Stories in The Dark’ written by Debra Oswold (Dir. Chris Button), ‘Metamorphosis’ written by Mary Zimmerman (Dir. Chris Button), ‘Burial Rites’ (Dir. VCASS Company 2018). Their credits at VCA include ‘Otello, What’s Changed’ (Dir. Draf Draffin), ‘No Sleep, Show Cat!’ (Dir. Emma Hall) & ‘Low Hanging Fruit’ (Dir. VCA Theatre Making Company 21) Since completing their degree at VCA they have been acted in Promiscuous/cities (Dir. Alyson Campbell and writ. Lachlan Philpott) in Jan of 2023 and The Powder Room (Written & Directed by Tuia Suter & Bella Moretto) at the MC Showroom August ’23.

What inspires you?

Characters and stories far away from my own. Every character has humanity and relatability to tap into, but there’s something so exciting about telling a story from a place I’ve never been, or a person I’ve never met. I’m also very inspired by seeing absolute presence in an actor; the kind of moment where if you were to interrupt them in the middle of a scene to tell them the fire alarm’s gone off, they would still need a minute to calibrate what building they’re in. I keep coming back to a quote from actor Andrew Scott “ I think every story I’ve been apart of has been in some way about love. About how we conceal it, or deny it. Everyone character and every person has that in them. So every story is a form of love story.”

Teaching

Luce is currently teaching at Dreamhouse Theatre Company (DH) in Rosebud. They also Assistant Directed and Wrote for ‘The Amber and the Ant’ for the DH class of 30 which was be performed in September of 2023.

Creative Production

Luce was involved in:

• The Inaugural Flinders Fringe Festival as a Stage Manager (March 2023)
• The Inaugural Drift Festival as Co-writer of ‘Luminosity’ at The Briars, she also Assistant Directed the production and was a performer with Dreamhouse Theatre Company.

Acting

Currently rehearsing in the lead role for the Flatpack Theatre Company production ‘D R Y L A N D’. To be performed at Theatre Works on Feb 28th – 9th March 2024
